Wells to Denmark Cable route survey – May 2020

We were requested to supply a vessel to Next Geosolutions for a Cable Route Survey. The vessel was mobilised from Lowestoft, where all the survey equipment was fitted and calibrated. The vessel then sailed to Wells, which was the closest port to the job, just north of Skegness. After the wells side, the vessel Headed to Denmark, via Den Helder, Borkum and then into Esjberg to commence the European side of the project.

We carried out geological surveys, Multi Beam, Sub Bottom, Side Scan and Grab Sampling.

The vessel performed this role with ease and was able to cruise at 20 knots fully laden to the survey area.

Despite very difficult seas and 3 sandbars very close to shore and in the surf zone, we were able to safely navigate over the bars and reach where the land survey had ended. The vessel ran very smoothly, all paperwork, permits to work in Europe were met and supplied to the various authorities (even during the COVID-19 Lockdown) the vessel was able to maintain safe working distances.

Bunkering in all ports were prearranged and ran smoothly along with Port and Berthing, Crew accommodation, and Critical spares. The vessel completed the project on time, without incident or Break down.

Client Statement:

Charter Boat Service found us a fully capable vessel. The Project was soon underway and was completed with haste. They performed on the surf zone very well. Everything was done by protocol, and I am very pleased with the service and the attitude of the crew and captain.
